Microblade/ 3D Brows

This procedure consists of a manual application of pigment using a hair-like stroke that resembles a hair strand. The microblade is a tool that has a small needle configuration that allows the artist technician to implant pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

Powder Brows (Shaded Brows)

Pigment is injected into the dermal layer of the skin using a PMU (Permanent MakeUp) machine. The procedure produces a shaded brow without definitive hair strands.

Combination Brows

The procedure produces a powder brow with the illusion of hair strands (i.e. 3D brows). The duration of the procedure and pricing will be determined during the consultation.

Microbladed Hairstrokes vs Machine Hairstrokes

A microblade is a handheld instrument that contains a number of tiny needles in a row. The Permanent MakeUp (PMU) artist will dip the edge of the microblade into pigment and then make small thin cuts that deposit the pigment into the skin to simulate strands of eyebrow hair. Microblading produces a type of permanent eyebrow that provides a natural hair-like look. The PMU artist makes multiple cuts to create the look of beautiful, full brows!

Hairstrokes may also be created with the use of a Permanent MakeUp (PMU) machine. A PMU machine resembles a “pen-like” handheld device that can be equipped with various needle configurations. The PMU artist will decide which needle configuration is best for your procedure. In many instances, a single nano needle will be used in the PMU machine to create a simulated strand of hair. When in use, the needle(s) move in and out of the cartridge at a very fast speed while injecting the pigment into the skin.

Hairstrokes that are created with a PMU machine should not fade as quickly as a microbladed hairstroke. However, your PMU artist cannot predict exactly how long either application will last. The the degree to which the tattoo fades is dependent upon many factors.

You and your PMU artist will discuss your options and will decide which hairstroke procedure is best for you.

What are Powder Brows?

Powder Brows are another technique used to apply permanent pigments to give the look of full, softly shaded filled in brows. You and your PMU artist will decide on the density that is best for you This method of application produces a powdery or shaded look without the illusion of individual hairs. Your PMU artist will use a PMU machine to apply these pigments to produce a look that resembles brows that are softly filled in with a pencil, but without having to go through the hassle of filling them in every morning! Powder brows can offer a uniform degree of shading throughout the brow. Ombre brows are another version of a powder brow however most people refer to an Ombre brow as a brow that has a darker tail that becomes progressively lighter towards the head of the brow, and darker at base. Your PMU artist will work with you and combine the proper techniques to achieve your desired look.

Consultation Process

You and your PMU artist will determine what techniques to use to achieve your desired look at your initial consultation. Before any pigment is applied to your brows, your makeup artist will map out the brows to fit your face. Lots of things go into designing your tattooed eyebrow including skin color, ethnicity, skin type, face shape, and your preferences. Ethnicity plays a large role in your underlying skin tones and how your skin heals, so your background is very important to take into consideration. Eyebrows are an extremely personal part of your look, and here at Permanent Cosmetics Atelier we’ll guide you through every step of the way to ensure the brows you get are the ones you’ve always dreamed of.
